Project: Content Strategy, Marketing and Messaging for a non-profit

Campaigns Included: Website Redesign, Email Newsletter and Partnership Report

This is a collaborative project with my brilliant team. Dana Stillman of Inspire Graphics, Angela Bowman of Moongoose Design, and Kristen Bason of Shine

Client: Adams County Youth Initiative (ACYI – Adams County, CO)

What if you are a non-profit organization helping youth find their path in life, but have lost your own way?

When ACYI first approached us, this was the case.

Their focus had shifted (though not away from helping kids), they weren't getting the funding they once had (due to government cutbacks), and they didn't know how to communicate their directional changes to their audience.

They needed help with a variety of different projects:

  • Overall Marketing Message & Strategy
    • Help them find their voice to talk with their community of partners
  • Content creation for their Annual Partnership Report
    • Make sure we told the story of the successes they had achieved
  • Website and Blog content strategy
    • Identify who the site served to understand what they need
    • Survey existing audience about how the new site could benefit them
    • Keyword Research to make sure we use the same words as the people searching for them
  • Email Newsletter
    • Email announcing the relaunch of their website
    • Create a new mobile-friendly template they can easily reuse month after month
    • Ongoing Content that works for their busy and small team

Though their organization benefits kids, the people they engage with are community partners, funders/donors, volunteers/mentors, and parents.

Their actual service is connecting together each of these entities. They don't offer programs. They evaluate which programs are most successful and which need help to become effective, and then they distribute resources appropriately.

First things first, we sat down and interviewed them about who each of these folks are and what is important for them.

When we do our Unique Client Profile, it's not just about what our clients want to sell their clients, it's about what their clients are motivated by.

In some cases, as with a non-profit, there are people with differing agendas that are critical to the case. Understanding what is important to each group, so you can talk to them better, is going to help everyone in the long run.

The one thing they have in common: Each of them truly wants to help and support the kids.

It's about aligning everyone's goals to what's most important – working together to help kids success.
So, the most significant message to convey is how they work together to connect resources: Together we succeed

RESULTS:

ACYI received several grants directly resulting from the shift we created.

They are also communicating and partnering more effectively with the business leaders, school districts and faith-based organizations within Adams County.

As a small non-profit with a huge vision it was important for us to create the voice our many audiences could understand and own.

As a result of working with UniqueThink, we have attracted new partners, new revenue, and are able to get back to driving our work to outcomes!

Project: Content Strategy, Marketing and Messaging for a Business to Business commercial cleaner

Campaigns Included: Website Redesign, Email Newsletter, Marketing and Brand Identity

Client: Avalanche Commercial Cleaning (Boulder, CO)

WordPress Website For Business To Business Cleaning Service
This is a collaborative project with my brilliant team. Dana Stillman of Inspire Graphics, Angela Bowman of Moongoose Design, and Kristen Bason of Shine

When Avalanche Commercial Cleaning came to us, they wanted to make sure it was clear to the search engines and the people landing on their website that their services were to clean office buildings.

Prior to working with us, they were getting more calls from homeowners than office managers, and that needed to be cleaned up.

We started with a discovery phase, identifying who their audience was (office managers & property managers), how they searched for them, and what motivated them to take action.

To do this we began with:

  • Sent a survey to their existing clients asking for feedback
  • Interviewed the owner about his Unique Clients
  • Performed a Keyword Research Campaign

With this information in hand, we created effective messaging through words and images that spoke directly to the people they serve best. We redesigned & developed a beautiful & action oriented WordPress website.

From their, we worked with the staff to create a meaningful content marketing strategy – one that allows them to create fun and easy How-To messages, using their blog and an email marketing campaign.

The blog let them educate new visitors, while providing existing clients with handy tips for their office worker.

A cleaning service is a silent business – their works come in after the typical employees leave the office for the evening. So, when you do everything right, your services go unnoticed. Yet, we wanted to remind the folks that we were there to help them.

This is where the email marketing came in handy. Those great blog posts, they were summarized into a easy to use email newsletter template once a month.

Just a friendly reminder to show how hard they work for their corporate clients, silently, in the background – but are there to give useful office related tips – like preparing for flu season and changes in recycling laws in Boulder county.

Thank you for checking the Google Analytic…. It does seem the traffic has increased to me, as well. The best news is that I have had some request for quotes come in and have gained at least one new customer!

Have a great day!
